On Holy Thursday I started at 2 PM from the office and got into the tough easter traffic. It took me almost 7 hours, normal time 4 hours, to get to Airolo (Ticino) in the south part of Switzerland. Finally there, I met Gerlinde, Wolfgang x 2 and Gunnar in the Pizzeria on the opposite of the train-station. On the next day we woke up in a winter wonderland with more as 50 cm fresh snow and we still decided to start for our small Ticino Haute Route and drove up the Pass Nufenen and went up into the direction of the Rifugio Maria-Luisa. Unfortunately, the snow was too much and it started to be too dangerous so we decided just 2 Km before the Rifugio to turn around and go back to Airolo.
On the next day we drove to Andermatt and enjoyed the great powder on nice downhills at the Felsental and Guspistal. For the next two nights we stayed at the really nice Posthotel in Realp. From there we climbed up to the Schattmigen Firsten / Stotzigen Firsten, 2.759 m and enjoyed a great downhill in fresh powder. On the final, a really sunny day, we climbed up to the Schafberg, 2.591 m close to the Albert-Heim Hut and enjoyed the blue sky and the lovely mountain panorama. Back in Realp we took a good-bye drink and snack and at half past two we started to drove back home.
