On our last day at La Paz we have been able to visit the Aymara New Year celebration at Tiwanaku on the 21. of June. We have been picked up from the bus at 4am and arrived really tired at Tiwanaku around 6am just before the sunrise. The place was really crowded. I guess, more as 10.000 people celebrated the new Aymara Year 5.516 at Tiwanaku. We went straight to the main temple where priests and the president of Bolivia Evo Morales received the new year with blessings and good wishes to the people and the world. As soon as the sun came out all people put the hands to the air and tried to get the power of the sun.

After the sunrise all people wished a happy new year to each other (it was the second time for me this year :-)) and started to dance and just have fun around the side. Some people got blessing from priest and walked afterwards around the side.

After the celebration we walked over the side as well and our guide told us about the history and how important the Tiwanaku still is for the Aymara people. Than we got a breakfast and went to two museums of the area and at the last one was the Pachamama, the most holy statue of the Aymara people.
